Birthdays and Outings

In the past week or so we have both celebrated our birthdays which meant we went to Denny’s for a meal each which was good.

Went for a drive to Clarke’s beach and outer suburb’s which made for an enjoyable day 20161206_143601

Also went for a visit to MOTAT (Museum of Transport and Technology) we both hadn’t been here for many years, Nice to walk around in and we enjoyed looking at the older style houses and what they lived in and some of the utilities they used. Nothing much else really tickled our fancy to be honest. However we did enjoy the day πŸ™‚

Waitakere is out west and yes we are both Westies from way back πŸ˜€

Trip South

We decided to head to Wanganui on the Friday however only got to Te Kuiti for the first night stopping at Huntly for a bite to eat after the traffic and small accident at the Bombay’s (trailer over turning on motorway) as you could imagine we had been in bumper to bumper traffic for some time so the stop at Huntly was a good call. Left at around 1815 and finally arrived at the motel in Te Kuiti at around 2013 after eating in Huntly. Time to get to Huntly

ak-hutlywas a staggering 1hr 44 minutes πŸ™

The stay overnight was great, comfortable and just what we both needed. Up and across to the cafe across the road from the Motel which suited us πŸ™‚ then we went to the wife’s grandparents old place from the 50’s a shop in Te Kuiti which is still operating as a dairy, great to see the building still a shop for the local community.

After the look around we headed south to Wanganui stopping at Taumarunui which was a quick stop only to stretch the legs and do the needy things πŸ˜€

Headed off feeling much better πŸ˜€ and had a good drive to the falls (Raukawa Falls) taking 1hr 8 minutes great travelling and enjoyed the sites along the way.

tam-fallstam-falls-ksΒ Last leg of the trip was to Wanganui which was another good run with little traffic although we had been glad it was Saturday as the road had a few slips to pass which meant down to a single lane although we had the right of way but still nice, there was no road work guys around to slow the traffic further.

Arrived at Wanganui which we found to be windy as but still nice weather so we headed to the motel to get sorted before looking around the town.

falls-to-wangfalls-wang-ksΒ 47 minutes wasn’t at all bad considering the road.

Stayed overnight in Wanganui had fish n chips at a place in Aramoho which used to be a good place back when I lived here but now not so good as the chips had been under cooked and the fish was not nice at all! Still we settled in the motel for the night…. Have to say the stay was comfortable but the shower was just terrible, cold which was not on. Next day we did what we had to,looked around a little as the wife had never been here before so was nice to be able to show her around. πŸ™‚

Sunday 20/11/2016Β Headed off to Taupo as we decided to spend two nights here due to having cold showers and Wanganui being very quiet! First stop Waiouru along with the Mountain including snow, it looked fantastic! Stopped for a drink and something to eat πŸ™‚

wang-to-waiouruwang-to-waiouru-ksΒ Great travelling with good traffic and great weather today πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ Should have stopped for a little longer here as we could have taken more photos however wanted to get to a motel so we could relax!

Taupo here we come around the east side of the lake great drive through the desert hwy and around the east side of the lake fantastic scenery on this leg of the trip! Loved it!

waiouru-to-taupowaiouru-to-taupo-ksΒ It was great having the mountain to our left with the snow around it even this late in the year, not cold by any means and we were both happy to arrive in Taupo as the atmosphere is amazing along with the environment, I have been here a couple of times myself in the past due to having to come here for conferences with work usually staying a couple of nights so it was nice to be here with my wife and enjoying the company. Taupo we both loved and made the most of being here going to Huka falls and doing some driving around the place.

After a great couple of nights at a really good motel we had to head home πŸ™ we really didn’t want to but im sure we will be back in the near future to explore more and enjoy this great place, looking to go to Napier sometime so we may incorporate this in the trip here next time πŸ™‚ Acacia bay was a nice drive as well, along with the lake.

Tuesday 22/11/2016Β Leaving, back to Auckland. No we don’t really want to leave this amazing place! Stopped off at Tirau for a quick break and looked at shops etc which was nice to have the break and stretch the legs!

Good traffic although we had one idiot, being a taxi driver apart from that the whole trip had no others πŸ˜€ it was another great day weather wise so nice to be able to get out and about when a hot day πŸ™‚ Onto Pokeno for something to eat at our favorite cafe πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ well worth the drive!

Closer to home we are both thinking oh well life goes on πŸ™‚ 32 minutes later we are home and thinking of another break away πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Round trip from Auckland to Wanganui and Wanganui, Taupo and back to Auckland without running around in the towns totaling 965 k’s so would have done well over 1k in traveling and took 11hrs 30 minutes traveling time return. Great company and great trip!

Days off

So it was a long weekend and due to the both of us having a day or two off we decided to head up to Orewa not before heading to the sisters for a visit and scones, payment for sorting internet service and Narida didn’t hold back with great food and company was good to catch up with others also and Lez for a short time.

ak-waimaukuDidn’t take long considering the time of day 47 minutes! Just over a two hour visit so was well worth the travel.

Headed onto Orewa as I needed to have some medication in a fridge before too long……

Another quick trip (45 minutes) considering we went the long way but was a good drive so we didn’t mind too much πŸ™‚

Stayed at Orewa Beachcomber which was very nice, clean and getting renovated at the moment so parking was limited, the only thing we really didn’t like was the two chairs in the lounge room and the lack of a couch apart from that friendly and relaxing to say the least.

Just a couple of night’s to relax and enjoy the not so great weather however the area as always was good to recharge our batteries! Had some great food and enjoyed each others company πŸ˜€ Next time we may go further north..

Hospital Visit

Out tonight with my darling wife visiting family at the hospital and decided to try a photo from the window… not bad we thought, light rain this evening however enjoyed the drive in I guess that’s due to me being the passenger πŸš—

West Auckland

Went out west the other day to see family and enjoy the drive also had to be out this way to get a couple of tires fitted to the wife’s vehicle.

It’s going ahead slowly with the new added roading to the motorway so seen I wasn’t driving I thought it would be good to try and capture the added roading, looks impressive when driving out this way so will be interesting to see if it helps! Β Barry & Trevor this will look different to you guys if you haven’t been out that way in a number of years πŸ™‚

This is around the New Lynn turn off area, down too 80 kmh at the moment.

Out for a drive

Went for a drive the other week as we decided to check on some caches and we ended up going for a drive through Kingseat the ex mental health hospital in Papakura. This place must have been amazing when first built, the grounds would have been amazing and well kept I would say…… Sadly though now a days there must be either people in the lower class area orindeed possible still some clients that are in the public health system and can only afford living in these grounds. The buildings are all in disrepair and in a state to say the least.

Took some pictures however to be honest they dont look as bad as being there, a couple of businesses operate from here that being Spookers and a Paint Ball business! Other than that the place looks run down….. Its a pity really as it would have been an amazingΒ kept place when the govertment had it.

Apart from the state of the place it was an interesting drive and as always we enjoyed it together πŸ™‚

Day off driving

In the last week we have been busy going out to dinner yes of course Denny’s just because we can and we enjoy it so much.

Went out and about for a drive to the elite area of the coast… Can you guess where as the street has recently been on TV….

Enjoyed the views and the houses here!

Oh and of course we headed west and found ourselves having a bite to eat and a coffee!

20160830_145810Β Enjoyed as always πŸ™‚

Day Off

Both headed to Botany shopping centre, however went to Jaycar for a visit out that way. Nice store but don’t you hate it when the sales person asks if you need a hand but you say no thanks just looking… Oh but wait she hovers around us get’s in front of us while looking at items later she again comes over and shadows us what the hell is that about Jaycar……

Leave a couple alone unless we ask for help dammit!

Oh yeah and we went to Dennys for lunch!

Great Eating

Well we decided to go and have a different takeaways the other night and it was so good we ended up going two nights….Watch Full Movie Online Streaming Online and Download

Pita Pit (fresh thinking – Healthy eating) Fantastic I have to say, I loved it as with the wife. We each had the FalafelΒ regular size, the price was right and it was so fresh and tasted great… healthy too.
Go treat yourself as the menu is healthy and its a great meal.

Family Visit and Drive

Had a great day out today visiting family, was great to catch up and spend a few hours out of Auckland itself even though we have done in the past few days.

Nothing like a change.
Headed out and thought the traffic maybe a little busy as the Kumeu show was on and we had to pass through here to get to family abode.
GPS soon sorted out the traffic situation and it only took 50 minutes for the 50 k trip πŸ™‚
Had great food and coffee and of course a good chat etc. Both enjoyed the visit thanks Narida and Lez.
On the return we decided to do the scenic tour πŸ™‚
On the motorway we just missed an accident however the traffic was almost clear by the time we got to the location πŸ™‚
Again thanks guys for the lunch.
Above the round trip!
