What are your thoughts?

I have installed it the other day and only played with it for a while… At first it was like what is this…. But I’m slowly getting used to it. It’s as fast as Windows 7 and looking at the widgets is something different although I guess if your lucky enough to have a touch screen it might be nice but it looks too big and bulky to me, again I’m slowly getting used to it though.

There’s a few tricks to get to know as there is no usual start menu even to shut down or restart took ages to suss…. Go figure microsoft Not sure either that I like it you can have it update everything by having access to your basic logins with hot mail, gmail etc… I mean it’s cool I guess your email comes up in the widget along with the latest news weather etc in your area but I think they get enough access from us don’t they!

Anyway I will stick with it and have a better play and see from there…. I must admit I purchased two of the Vista OS and it was the crappiest OS they released so I think I will hold off for some time this time!

My decision was based on reviews on the net and what others had talked about.

The Iphone 4 and the galaxy has pretty much the same specs from what I could see. Although I haven’t owned the new Iphone 4 I have a friend that has seen the both in action.

For me after having the Galaxy for just over a week here is what I have found so far.

When I first took the Galaxy S2 out of the box it was BIG… more screen space than the Iphone. I had also noticed it was bloody slippery First purchase was the back cover and a screen protector! I still find the phone a little slippery and at times have to hold it with guidance from the other hand. plus the guy told me the case was the gel soft type but its nothing like that and I hate hard cases so will keep looking for one like I had on the iphone.. soft and easy to grip!

Charged the phone and went to set up my email.. Found this as easy as the Iphone and with no problems both with pop accounts and Gmail.

I use Viber to connect with family and friends and downloaded this and setup was a breeze.

SmS messaging tool is as the Iphone no problems there. Now I love my Apps I really do… I had shit loads on the iphone and purchased the good ones that I used all the time. Geocaching was one of the first to download and tested this a little with one of my caches hidden… results so far the galaxy S2 is accurate compared to the Iphone 3GS the iphone was crap to be honest in this area… maybe it was due to the fact I had a handheld GPSr also and new how accurate that is

The camera including video is fantastic on the Galaxy S2 compared to the previous Iphone I had, there was no doubt an incredible better faster difference..

I had just mentioned speed! The S2 is super fast compared to the 3GS the Iphone used to pause at times only just but you could tell.. Boot up time is faster on the S2 and applications run at the touch of the icon… Truly super fast

Battery- The iphone drains faster than I can keep up, the S2 is a little better although you still have to be onto charging. A typical day while at work with the Iphone is by the time on in the car driving home the phone tells me to charge it as for the S2 I get home after work and later in the evening I need to charge the phone so over all the S2 is better in this respect.

I have only missed out on one app that I cant find with the S2 although not one I used to use I do hope they produce something soon.

I like the operating system with the S2.. Droid as compared to the Apple Itunes. You can change the phone around much easier on the S2 as they don’t lock down the system like the Iphones….. Talk about easy app installing… You just go onto the website you choose click install and it will tell you that your phone will install it soon, look at the phone and what do you know its installing Great stuff no need to connect to Itunes

Music is as easy as the Iphone and no difference there.

Now to sum it all up…… Galaxy S2 is great, fantastic I love it! I have to say I loved the new operating system when cloud came out with version 5 on the Iphone but I have quickly gotten used to the android and all the bells and whistles I LOVE THE S2

I‘m not one that usually say’s Happy New year and Merry Christmas…. Just another day with some days off in between I admit though I was looking forward to at least getting out on the water with the kayak as I have had two weeks off work. BUT the WX (Weather) has been raining and wind at times so the local harbour (Manukau) has not been good.

Caching…. Yes went south the other day as wanted to reach the 1000 finds and needed the 51 finds to reach the goal before the year was out! Finally done this on the 29th of December traveled around 300k’s but well worth the day.. Beats being stuck at home I guess You can read about it here

This week being the last of the days off I have been sleeping in…. I hate sleeping in but with the wx the way its been I have ended up getting up later than norm (6am) BUT what a pain it has been….. You get up later and the day is gone before you know it! Sooo I’m up again earlier that way next week when getting up for work it shouldn’t be a problem lol

Went to the Manukau shopping mall with the kids yesterday and while there decided to quickly duck into head office to check emails….. I can see from all the emails I will be busy for sometime I don’t mind as I would rather be kept busy so good in one respect.

NOW I just hope I can get out in the kayak one day before going back to work… Hopeful I know as the wx forecast doesn’t look that great before next week as I go back on the 9th.

Was hopefully to have gone south over the Xmas break but wasn’t meant to be, Busy time of the year for everyone so maybe later in the year it may happen.

Great news though…. the eldest daughter had a baby girl on the 28th of November which was my birthday Made my day complete to be honest. 9 pound lol heaps of hair… actually more hair than me! I’m catching up though

Been out in the kayak and took the Son in law which we went out five k’s from shore lol Paddled for miles and put the long line out caught a couple of fish threw one back and kept the snapper! James cooked it as soon as we got home and him and I got stuck into it… Fresh as was great! While out the waves had been coming over my head lol as I was in the front Really we should not have gone out but we had been keen as Took no safety equipment this trip and capsized twice lol…. Not really funny as I struggled to get back in but hey we survived Great fun even though we got wet!

Been caching a few times and wanting to get the 1000 before Xmas… Not sure if will achieve this as busy doing other stuff… Will see.

Work going well Busy but enjoy it heaps now a days….. Full of meetings but that’s OK. Went to Taupo the other day for three days at a work conference really enjoyed it.. was really full on all day from 6am till late but was well worth it and lots of info etc so looking forward to the next!

Xmas is here really soon! Hmm not sure I’m looking forward to it myself but will make the most of it.. Only taking the 6 days between the stat days and back into work again

Following the first week I ended up doing some caching a few days, read from here and even hid one cache for others to find have enjoyed the time off and although not doing alot I finally found it to be an OK time as at first I was really wondering what I was going to do.

Probably drunk far too much but what the heck you only live once!

Been spending time with the family too which has been good. Purchased an Xbox 360 with camera and now with all the bowling we have been playing my arms feel like there going to fall off! Fun though and the wife has the best score so far..

Went down the road this morning to do some caching and came across a road block as there had been a fatal car accident at Glenbrook so had to turn around and go the long way home.. All good though as it allowed us to go back through Pukekohe so went to the supermarket for supplies.

Been playing some movies and even played a few PC games! haven’t done this in a long time so was something different and was good on the wet days!

Got my still going and done a double batch which netted 16 40 oz bottles of spirits…. Not bad I thought

Wiremu, a New Zealander, was  on the dole in Australia  but  about to fly home
to watch the Rugby World Cup and was not feeling well,

So he decided to see a doctor.

“Hey doc, I dun’t feel so good, ey” said Wiremu.

The doctor gave him a thorough examination and informed Wiremu
that he had long existing and advanced prostate problems and that the
only cure was testicular removal.

“No way doc” replied Wiremu “I’m gitting a sicond opinion ey!”

The second Aussie doctor gave Wiremu the same diagnosis and also
advised him that testicular removal was the only cure.
Not surprisingly, Wiremu refused the treatment.

Wiremu was devastated, but with the Rugby World Cup just around
the corner he found an expat Kiwi doctor and decided to get one last
opinion from someone he could trust.

The Kiwi doctor examined him and said: “Wiremu Cuzzy Bro, you huv Prostate
suckness ey.”

“What’s the cure thin doc ?” asked Wiremu hoping for a different answer.

“Wull, Wiremu”, said the Kiwi doctor “Wi’re gonna huv to cut off your balls.”

“Phew, thunk god for thut!” said Wiremu,
“those Aussie bastards wanted to take my test tickets off me!”

Goes to show it pays to use the safety switches when using anything that is or could be in contact with water or liquid. I have used this for many many years so it has certainly served well for the purpose.

We haven’t been out in the kayaks lately as the weather has been like everywhere else in New Zealand…. Crap! Still today is great and has been all morning after the heavy downfalls over night. The paddocks all around the place is full of water so we certainly can see the large amounts of water lying around the place.

I was out the other day and while driving around found a sign saying we have Ipads in stock…. I have waited for sometime as I was thinking of getting one of these and this day (couple weeks ago) I decided what the heck…. Purchased the Ipad2 Wifi & 3g this is great and I like the Iphone wouldn’t be without it. Its great for work great for home and great for caching! Lots of apps to boot and full access to the internet via 3g or home network with also the Auckland hot spots that are around

I highly recommend one of these if your out and about and wanting access to the net for any reason. There fast, reliable and effective for work and home

Busy with work as always although enjoying it more me thinks! No activity on the radio, rather slack i think as I dont have an HF antenna up at all Always some excuse so I think I will just have to pull finger out and do it! Watch this space!

Fishing…. nope rather slack here too to be honest.. Too cold and wet lol Been meaning to get out in the kayak as I purchased a long line for the kayak but just haven’t got there.

My Dad is back in hospital so that has made it busy in the weekends as I support Mum at times to see him, doesn’t help by living around 100k away!

Getting colder lately as I’m feeling it Is that good or bad!

have to admit we have been geocaching and been traveling some miles to do this as we are out in the bush so to speak and need to travel Been to Hamilton a couple of times and taken the niece so have enjoyed it and finding many. Looking to go again this weekend over to NorthShore which again is some distance.
