Two Months!
By glenn on Aug 22, 2010 | In News | Send feedback »
So here I am after something like two months of no activity here on my blog! To be honest I spend most of my time posting on my other sites blog Seems a little pointless having two blogs although both a about my hobbies it's not like I use this one for the ham radio as I'm not all that active.
Anyway all is well with us all here. Lot's been going on. I started a course in management (leadership) the other week through work so that will keep me somewhat busy I guess. Speaking of work all is well there, went in yesterday for a couple of hours to do some water blasting as I ended up and the Sister n laws to do some there as well so thought may as well kill two birds with one stone!
Haven't been riding the bike these days, paid for rego and don't use it so might look at selling it soon at least it would hopefully get used more, can't see the point in having it collect dust.
Going for a drive today and probably going to be finding a couple of caches while out and about. Helensville is where we are heading so should be a nice drive as haven't been there for sometime and there is some caches out that way that we haven't yet done. Mind you the WX isn't that great but not that worried.
Till next time enjoy!
Coming to an end

Amazing here I am still in holiday mode and yet next week (Wednesday) I'm due back at work after having over a month off work.
Been enjoying the time just around home and out heaps with geocaching. Also having time with the niece so that has been a bonus! we have really been enjoying the caching and doing fairly well with finding plenty. If you like you can check out our caching blog here
Having time with the granddaughter and enjoying being home for the kids. Done the lawns today for the first time in over a month lol Oh and we have had problems with a neighbour up the road dumping his rubbish in the front of our house. About to visit and sort him out!
Went to the city the other day (I usually hate going there) however we really enjoyed it, must have been due to being on a work day I think. Wasn't cheap parking though, $4.00 for around an hour if that!. We went on purpose as I wanted to go to the army disposal store.. man it's fantastic!. So much in here we wanted to spend the day here. They had everything here too... Now you’re no doubt wondering why we wanted to go here... right! Well due to being into caching you need to have something to disguise your caches. Ammo box was one as there water tight and in the color of bush etc. :o) Also got some camouflage tape which is handy to use with caches.
Haven't really gone far from home to be truthful although we headed up north a little and meet up with a couple of other caches and went hunting together so that was really cool. Is good to get out and meet people me thinks.! Again go read all about this on our other blog!
Well although it's been some time I posted here and although I have had over a month off I am going to leave it here. I have been keen to get back onto the radio and have now moved the multimode radio to where I usually sit most of the time these days, just need a HF antenna as well. Might move though so might wait a little as next time we want to be out in the bush! You can however find me usually on the national link..
Till next time Cheers!

Internet Update
By glenn on Jun 12, 2010 | In News | 1 feedback »
As promised I have decided to update on my Internet woes!
Yes I left Xnet only to go to Vodafone however I have since phoned and gone back to Xnet... I must say I'm a little pissed off by Vodafone and there crap speed. Also I am pissed at them telling me I'm in a red zone which allows me to a discount of $10 per month from my bill. NOT SO apparently! I phoned and spoke to customer services only to almost have a argument with the guy. He was really shitty when I mentioned the red zone and told me that I would have been told at the start that I wasn't in the zone.. Crap service I say. Full of advertising about it and even when I checked there on line checker to see if I was it showed that I was. So Vodafone sucks BIG time.
Oh and here is a link about it that I got via twitter (Thanks Kev) Now at least I know I was bloody right! Too late though cause yesterday I spent all bloody day on the phone to Xnet. First they say fusion is the way to go, Ok I said sign me up... No said the women you’re better off purchasing the adaptor for the router as this allows me to use my analogue phone as it changes it into a digital phone. Then she said phone back up and we can get the ball rolling.
Off we shot to PB computers and $140 later we get the adaptor :o) I phone up and now I'm talking to some guy.. Sweet I thought sign me up to this fusion please.. No problem sir he said.. Oh by the way do you have an alarm at your house he asked. Yes was my reply Oh did our last operator tell you about fusion and alarms he said.... No I replied, Oh there could be a problem then. Shit I thought...
At the end of the day I had to phone our security monitoring firm to see if they can change me to a IP service. Yeah sure the guy said BUT!
End of the day they want approximately $180 call out fee plus, they had meant to get back to me but of course they haven't. So the whole affair has sucked BIG time. I'm not happy with any of these idiots. Why do businesses employ idiots? Is it just to get our hard earned money then kick us all to the side after making money from us?
I now wonder if the Internet is worth all this hassle. Easy solution disconnect the bloody alarm! So at this stage I have again opted for the connection I used to have with Xnet without this fancy bloody fusion and now have a brand new out of the box adaptor worth $140 sitting next to me
Grrrr one braced off Internet user...
Count Down
By glenn on May 16, 2010 | In News | Send feedback »
Yes the count down has begun.
One week and one day to go until I'm off for over a month
Really looking forward to it too.
Feel like crap as I have had a cough for two weeks now and my chest feels like crap all of a sudden.... Not liking what I'm coughing up but busy week at work this week due to another audit the following week.
I'm hoping to get my antenna for HF up soon although will be the vertical (mobile) as I don't have the room here. In saying that we went and had a look at a house yesterday which is around 50k from work but out at a beach and on top of the hill looking down... Big back yard and a great place for antennas with a car port, garage and shed just what we need for all our crap! lol Lot's of people to see the house so will be interesting to see if we are succsessful.
Wx has been mixed with rain cloud cover and being warm one week and cold the next! All in all it hasn't been as cold as I have been expecting, let's see how it is next month ![]()
Till next time

Holidays Soon - I hope
By glenn on May 2, 2010 | In News | 1 feedback »
Yes that time of the year as Deb is going into surgery and I will have four weeks off work!
Mind you she found out that Deb's goes in on the week our audit starts... Yes another one so I gather some at work would be rather pissed.
Anyway a small update on the Internet provider...... Vodafone took there sweet merry ass time in getting it sorted and although I guess I should have made sure all those that I was changing from should have been notified I didn't thinking that Vodafone would have on my behalf as with past experience they other providers did. Not so this time around so BIG bills for the first month with the shock of course... Nearly $300 just with Vodafone...
Then I found that instead of the stated $90 per month for the connection (due to me being in the red zone) they were charging me the $100 instead. I got on the phone and this smart ass foreigner started raving at me stating that it wouldn't be the $90 rather it was $100 and that no staff would have told me otherwise. Of course I was foaming at the mouth and said they need to get their act together as there online checker was showing different.. I notice now they don't have that up anymore.
Usage and speed: All no different to Xnet to be honest. Still getting kicked at times so that is the same and the speed is really no different. Only one good thing is the Internet, Phone & Sky are all one bill.
